The Courtyard Memory Care at Tockwotton on the Waterfront is an assisted living residence designed specifically for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The goal of The Courtyard is to be a place where every resident has meaningful connections and life-affirming experiences daily. Our staff gets to know each resident on a personal level—their likes and dislikes, their talents and experiences. These personal connections help create a warm and familiar environment where each resident feels welcomed, valued, and important.
Smartly designed for life
The cognitive changes brought on by memory loss can cause a great deal of anxiety or stress. Something quite familiar can suddenly feel unfamiliar. That is why our common spaces and private studio apartments in The Courtyard have been designed to feel just like home. We encourage families to fill the space with residents’ favorite possessions and pictures. Built in a circular fashion, The Courtyard minimizes opportunities for confusion and agitation, while enhancing a sense of stability and calm. Most of the apartments feature either courtyard or waterfront views.

Our staff considers it a calling to deliver personalized, compassionate care to the residents entrusted to us. With specific training in dementia care, our staff has the knowledge to support residents at every stage of life. From fun music programs to staying physically active in our garden to asking questions that keep the mind active and engaged daily, our goal is to stimulate minds as we embrace the hearts of our wonderful residents.

The rhythm of our day
The rhythm of our day starts with breakfast on a resident’s own timetable. The day then picks up with a choice of activities, trips, entertainment and pleasurable family visits. Music often fills the air after lunch. Whether we sing or listen to a concert, music is a fun, easy-going activity that stirs the soul. As the afternoon winds down, a delicious dinner is served, complete with fresh flowers and soft music. Evening may feature a specially designed game and then a movie that brings back fond memories. Throughout the day you will find ALL members of our highly trained staff involved in every aspect of care for your loved one, just as you would find in a family setting.
